Why VNA Selected Synzi

Offering a wide range of in-home and community-based services to individuals of all ages and stages of life, VNA is using Synzi’s HIPAA-compliant video functionality to continue delivering care as in-person visits are increasingly restricted and VNA prepares to treat more COVID patients with a dedicated front line crew.

Synzi recently spoke with Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) about their use of Synzi’s telehealth app and virtual care platform across Nebraska and Southwest Iowa.  ““Synzi enables our staff to continue caring for the communities we serve and support. We started caring for COVID patients in early April and Synzi will help us safely check-in with these patients upon their release from a hospital setting,” said Jamie Summerfelt, President and CEO, VNA. “We have a responsibility to be in the community. If we can’t be there physically, we can be there virtually with Synzi.”

What VNA’s Patients and Staff Say About Synzi

VNA’s home health staff members are committed to providing patients with personalized, innovative care to aid on the road to recovery.  VNA’s staff shared a few experiences of their use with Synzi:

  • “Synzi has been very instrumental in assisting nurses in the field with wound care and ostomy care questions.  I have been able to greet the clients face to face – exchange pleasantries, and then carry on with the task at hand.  Lots of education and training occur during these virtual video chats. It’s a win-win!”
  • “Synzi has been important during the COVID 19 pandemic for so many families. Synzi has the added benefit of protecting personal information and complying with HIPAA guidelines. With Synzi, we can continue our important services and keep clients engaged.”
  • “I had a positive experience with patient in a facility and the family who is self-isolating. The family caregiver said the cellular connection and video on Synzi was far better than their experiences on other video platforms.  And the patient was thrilled with how clear and easy it was to see and hear on the Synzi connection!”
  • “Our Homeless Shelter Nursing Services program serves about 50 percent of the homeless population in the Omaha metro area. Many of our shelter-based clients also have underlying mental health issues… Our nurses want to be out there and want to keep the communication open and ongoing with their clients. With Synzi, our nurses safely continue providing personalized, expert care to the shelters’ homeless population. It’s one thing to be on the phone but it’s significantly better to use video and see someone visually.”

VNA also highlighted how their Parenting Support Program now features Synzi’s virtual visit functionality in order to continue supporting at-risk children and young parents:

  • “We use Synzi to continue supporting young parents with virtual care and education. Our clients are young, scared, pregnant or new mothers. However, they are excited to virtually connect with our ‘parent coaches’ to discuss their concerns and learn about early childhood growth and development.  Recently, one of our new parents and her toddler participated in virtual visit with our coach. They reviewed a Growing Great Kids™ activity that highlighted how music benefits brain development. The toddler, his mother, and our nurse enjoyed singing and dancing to music and Synzi made this visit come to life!”
  • “It truly has been a very positive experience. Synzi is very user friendly and easy to use.The video is clear and the audio is great.  I recently conducted a virtual visit with a teen client who is 30 weeks pregnant.  She had been feeling a lonely at home and was scared about being pregnant during the pandemic.  She was excited about the virtual visits. We discussed fetal growth and development.  I held up the pictures of what her baby looked like, etc.  She was SO happy and excited to see these pictures, she couldn’t believe it.  She stood up to show me her covered belly bump too.  It was a great visit.”
  • “Recently, Synzi was a break from the monotony for one of my clients and her toddler. They are living in a small home with several family members and have had little contact with the outside world. Being able to meet with my client and her toddler face-to-face on Synzi brought the outside world in for them. The toddler was overjoyed to interact with me and the virtual visit gave me the opportunity to make visual assessments and utilize teaching tools the client could view from her screen. We all agreed we are excited to continue meeting through Synzi until we can meet in-person once again.”
